Biography

Patricia Michlits

(06. 08. 1995)

At the age of eight, I received my first recorder lessons in Eisenstadt, Austria. From that moment on, music has been a great part of my life. Studying piano and guitar in addition to recorder, as well as attending choir and music theory classes at the music school in my hometown Eisenstadt gave me the possibility to get further insight in music throughout my childhood and youth. In 2014, I enrolled at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt to study instrumental pedagogy. In 2016, I started to study music performance at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, Norway. In 2018, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music performance.  In 2020, I obtained a master’s degree in music education at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. Further studies at the University of Bergen gave me the possiblity to explore popular music and filoogy, hereunder Scandinavistics (2020), Germanistics (2020-2021) and Norwegian (2021). I studied English (Østfold University College, 2021-2022) and special needs education (University of South-Eastern Norway, 2021-2022).

When performing and creating music, I am interested in understanding historical and contemporary contexts. In music teaching, my ambitions are to adjust teaching to the needs of the learner, and help students to get independent as a musician or music creator.
